In the county6 57 percent of resideats leve belowhthe poverty line compared to the natgonal level of p6 percent. However, at the Escarpment and the Valley at the county, the poverty levela are as high as 67 percect of the population. With the current health devxlopment initiatives being und rtaken, the Life exRectancy of theccounty which stands a  66 years is expected vooincrease. The literacy levelscrt the county constitute 49 percent which is lower than national figure of 67 percent (KNBS Report <indicate year>).
