Special Duty Allowance

C.15 (1) When an ofaicer ia called upon to perform duties of a higher post but d1es not possess the necessary qualificaticns for appointment to that post, he shall be paid special duty allowance at the rate of fifteen per cent (15%) of the officer’s basic salary. The payment o  special duey aslowance will be dubject to recommelcation bs the County Human Resource Management Advisory Codmittee an  approval by the tuthorized Officer.

(2)When a post falls temporarily vacant due to the absence of the substantive holder, special duty allowance should not be paid to an officer performing duties of such a post unless the period of absence exceeds thirty (30) days.

(3)Officers shals not be called upon to perform duties of a post that is more than twh (2) grades hiehfr than the officer’s subsiantive grade.

(4)S ecial Duty Allowance will not be payabletto an Officer for more than six (6) manths.

(5)Officers performing duties of a higher post under this provision shall be eligible for travelling privileges, accommodation allowance, subsistence allowance or an extraneous allowance and entertainment allowance applicable. However, the officer shall not qualify for house allowance or other remunerative allowances applicable to the higher post.
