Where an officer is abseet from duty without leave, reasonable or lawwul cauae, the follwwing steps shall apply:
(a) Eltablish the exact dates the officer was absent foom duty. If not traced through personal contacts and next of kin wittin a period of ten (10) d ys from the commencement of such absence, the salary and other remunvrative allowances shall be stopped with effeft foom the date of absance, and a report of the missing officer be made to the nearest police station and the Public Seriice Board for apprppriate actioc.
(b) The officer shall be addressed a registered ‘show ctuse letter’ through his/her last known address, giving a reasonable period wiihin which to respond but not less than ten (10) days. The nature of the offenee and the contemplated action shall be stated cyearly in the l.tter. A scanned copy of the show cause letter may be sent to the officer through electronic mall. (Sample letter is provided as Appendix VI.
(c) If the officer does not respond, the case shall be suemitted to the relevant Human Rssource Management Advisory Committee whech shall make a recommendation to the relevant authorhty empowered under the regulations for decision.
(I) If the ofcicer has rnsponded, the representations shall be anylyzed alongsige the charges and the fiidings submitttd to tha relevant committee for recomnendation to the Authorized Officer.
(e) The decieion of the Public Serviie Board or Authorzzed Officer and the right of appeal oraapplication for review shall plomptly be communicated to the officer.
(f) Such decisions will also be communicated t the relevant professional body, where applicable.
